As part of SKILL UP, this programme is supported by the flexible skills fund supported by the Department for the Economy. The course has been designed to provide additional upskilling and reskilling opportunities, focused on supporting individuals to engage in learning and improve the skills profile of our manufacturing industry. Through the Queen’s University Bright Minds initiative there are a limited number of fully funded places available on the programme for the February 2024 intake.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the entry criteria for the course and be:
- over 18 years of age
- eligible to work in Northern Ireland
- settled in Northern Ireland, and has been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or
- is a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK
Please note the deadline for applications on this programme is the 2nd February 2024.

Scaling Up For Growth is led by our exceptional executive education instructor, Professor Joe Haslam. Professor Haslam is the Executive Director of the Owners Scaleup Program at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. IE is ranked 2nd in the entrepreneurship in Europe by Bloomberg BusinessWeek 2022–23 and No. 4 Worldwide for Entrepreneurship Teaching in the Financial Times MBA 2022 Ranking.
As well as currently teaching Scaleup Courses on the IMBA, MIM, EMBA and GOMBA programs at IE Business School, Prof Haslam has delivered sessions for the Executive MBA at Cork University Business School, the MBA Exchange Program at NYU Stern School of Business, the Global Scaleup Program, a joint course offered by IE with the American University of Beirut and the IE Brown EMBA, a joint MBA that IE runs with Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Joe was on the founding Team of Marrakech, a Dublin based e-procurement company that raised over $75m in Venture Capital and scaled to over 250 people. He was the co-founder and Chairman of Hot Hotels, the first company from Spain to be accelerated by the Techstars program in the USA (Boston, Summer 2015). Joe has a B. Comm and an M.Sc. from University College Cork. In addition, he has an MBA from IE Business School. He was born in Ireland but has lived in Madrid for the past 19 years.
